Downward Spiral

Canon 7d/ Canon 17-40mm F4 L series lens. UV filter. Induro tripod and ballhead. Three image HDR. Initial capture @ ISO 200, 29mm, F 11 @ .8 seconds. Spiral staircase at a home in Shelburne, Vermont.

A few weeks ago I was doing some photography work inside of a home in the area. This home was built to be energy efficient and the insulation inside of the thick walls is hay bails with stucco. A beautiful home on a small hill with fantastic views of Lake Champlain…I was most drawn however to the spiral staircase in the middle of the home which went up three flights.

The stairs here were built with wood reclaimed from the building lot and elements on the bottom floor like rocks and boulders from digging the foundation were incorporated directly into the structure. The staircase had a great view from the top looking down and I tried to take advantage of it. I have a few other variations of these stairs that I will be posting in the near future…Enjoy!
