Garage Closed

Canon 7d/ Canon 17-40mm F4 L series lens. UV filter. Induro tripod and ballhead. Three image HDR. Initial capture @ ISO 200, 22mm, F 11 @ 1 second. Flooded parking garage in Burlington, Vermont.

While the rain has stopped there is still significant flooding along the shores of Lake Champlain. I took this image about a month ago and this parking garage is still in this condition..Flooded and closed. This first image I took here was from a stairwell looking down into the garage however I liked this one which I took from ground level looking in.

The garage closed sign made me laugh a little as the bottom level was filled with water as you can see. This HDR image had a little more interest in it as well as a better reflection. Again I did these in black and white because the lights in the garage were these awful orange flourescent lights and looked terrible. At this point it’s probably going to be another few weeks until the water levels go back down to their normal levels.

  1. Great shot! Love the reflections!! You just gotta wonder about that sign, though… I can just picture someone trying to roll into that parking lot, up to their ears in water and seeing the sign… “OHHH! The garage is CLOSED!” *smacks forehead* This totally reminds me of all those whacky warning signs you sometimes see on products like the one for the hairdryer that says “do not immerse in water”…. Captain Obvious strikes again!
