Going to the same photography spots over and over can sometimes be a drag but more often than not they yield new photographic opportunities. With an open mind you can look at the same scene and like the above image pick out a new vantage point to make some great imagery. I shot this image on an extremely cold night with a bit of wind making it doubly cold but I happened to notice this composition which is right out in plain view but one I had never seen before.
Off to the left here is a picnic area and the land and trees stick out into the lake a bit here with a beach off to the right. What really caught my eye was the very subtle light on the snow and the silhouette of the trees against the color of the fading sun. Here I managed in one single exposure to capture the fading light on the snow and the color in the sky. I am lucky too because after a half hour or so of shooting this sunset my hands were damn cold from the wind!
